Pear Bistro Salad

California pears jazz up this simple salad.

  • 8 cups (2 L) assorted torn mixed salad greens
  • 2 fresh California Bartlett or Comice pears, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) walnut halves
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) crumbled blue cheese
  • balsamic vinegar
  • olive oil

Procedure

  1. Line platter with greens; top with pears, sliced onion, nuts and cheese.
  2. Combine vinegar and oil to taste; drizzle over salad. Serve with crusty bread, if desired.

Makes 4 servings.
